This bill increases penalties for using or holding an "electronic wireless communications device" (i.e cell phone) while driving. Previously, an officer could only stop and cite a motorist for a cell phone violation if they had committed another driving violation. This bill requires that each state agency reduces the regulatory restrictions contained in its rules by 30% by June 30, 2025.
